The
Way Forward - A Strategic
Plan for the Parks, Recreation and Culture Sector of BC
In 2006, the British Columbia Recreation and Parks Association
(BCRPA) commissioned a strategic planning process to assist
the parks, recreation and culture sector in understanding
and clarifying our expanding role. The resulting plan –
The Way Forward – was unanimously adopted by
the members at the 2008 BCRPA Annual General meeting in Victoria.
As a result, the BCRPA is proceeding with the implementation
of the strategic result areas identified in the plan as being
of immediate priority and will report on progress at the 2010
Symposium and AGM.
Healthy individuals create healthy communities. Healthy communities
strive to protect and sustain a healthy environment and they
contribute to a healthy, sustainable economy. Today, the parks,
recreation and culture sector plays a vital role in each of
these four elements, enhancing the quality of life in British
Columbia.
The Way Forward represents an unprecedented opportunity
for every aspect of the parks, recreation and culture sector
- be it people, facilities, programs or policies - to contribute
to a high quality of life for all.
